少年はどうしても欲しいおもちゃがあり、神様に100ドルくれるように手紙を書くことにした。
神様宛の手紙を受け取った郵便局は気を利かせて、その手紙を大統領に送った。
大統領補佐官は、その無邪気な手紙が大統領を喜ばせるだろうと、
多くの大統領宛の手紙の束にそれをもぐり込ませたのであった。

それを読んだ大統領は、ほほえましく思い、その少年に５ドルだけ贈ってやることにした。
小さな少年には100ドルは大金過ぎると思ったからだ。
それを受け取った少年は大喜びして、早速礼状を書くことにした。

　　　あなた様は政府を通じてお金をお送り下さいましたが、
　　　いつものことながら、あのカスどもが95ドルも税金を差し引いてしまいました。
　　　どうか天罰を下してください。
